Centre del Carme
A museum, the Centre del Carmen, with a square-shaped Gothic cloister featuring four pointed arches and galleries with vaults. It is an idyllic, solemn setting, maximally removed from the street walls where we begin. “In the museum, I snuck in” are dolls four and five meters tall that burst into the silence of the cloister and contemplate the works of the artists under the watchful gaze of all those who approach tape art for the first time. And indeed, museums elevate tape art to a higher category. For dePalo, the artist who helped us with the designs, tape artists “have been like my human markers.”
